-The Dinosaur Wave-
It was a very sunny day in the summer of 2012, it was me and my brother at home,
the rest of the family was in Denver since the day before. So we decided to go
rafting , we had already done it a lot the summer of 2011.
We dropped off my dads working car at the New Castle ramp and we drove his car tothe Carbondale ramp. We had the raft in the car just ready to jump in the river,
so we did and we were having some much fun on the Roaring Fork river. We hit
some big waves and it was just fun.
Two hours later we get to the Colorado river and we thought of getting off at the
Glenwood Springs ramp at the Two Rivers park and take the bus and come back for
the raft later because we were already exhausted.
But we decided to keep on going on the river and just get off where the car was
at.
We started to hit bigger and bigger waves but it was still a good time. We were
like twenty minutes away from New Castle, where our trip was over. We get to
this spot where there is usually this big rock sticking out in the middle of the
river. But we get there and the rock was not there, we did not know that the
rock was covered with water, when we got closer we see the biggest wave ever, we
didn’t have enough time to skip the wave, so we hit the wave and the raft
instantly flips and takes us underwater, We try our hardest to get out of the
water, the wave kept me going on circles under water for almost a minute, even
though we had life jackets on we couldn’t get out ofthe water. Finally we get
out and we look all around to look for the raft and its already like 15 meters
away.
We lost the raft, so we get out of the water, we started walking to the freeway,
and we had to hitchhike to get back to new castle .
